The first delivery of new trees for Blowing Rock's Memorial Park arrived on Thursday.

The Town's Landscape Specialist, Chris Pate, says that a second delivery will be some time next week.

The Blowing Rock Parks & Recreation staff members were working in the snow Thursday to install the new trees, some of which are quite large, weighing between 6500 and 7500 pounds.

The trees are replacing a dozen diseased trees that were recently removed from the park, and are part of a new landscape plan.

The town is accepting donations for planting trees and installing benches to memorialize or honor a family member or friend, or to commemorate a special occasion.
