The Watauga County Commissioners met Tuesday and handled a number of requests.

Commissioners heard from George Santucci, of New River Conservancy, about a South Fork River restoration project adjacent to the Ted Mackorell Soccer complex and across the river on property owned by the Town of Boone and Hollar and Green. Commissioners approved a restricted covenant on a fifty (50) foot buffer along the soccer complex, and a similar easement from Hollar and Green will be held by the county, once paper work is completed. Santucci will seek a similar step from the Boone Town Council. The restrictions and easements are required by the Clean Water Management Trust Fund to ensure funding for the project.

Commissioners also approved a request from the Sheriff's Department to purchase four additional body cameras. The current contract with Axon for cameras, fees and cloud storage, plus the additional four cameras, totaled $15,268.00. All the funds are currently in the Sheriff's department budget.
