A Caldwell County man has been cleared of charges in the death of a Hudson man.

The Caldwell Journal reports District Attorney David Learner has determined that actions that led to the the death of Daniel Lashawn Wright, age 31 of Hudson, were justified as self defense.

According to the report, on February 8th, Wright attacked a physically handicapped family member at the victim’s residence. After being knocked to the floor, the victim fired one shot from a 9-millimeter hand gun that killed Wright.

The report indicated Wright had methamphetamine and MDMA in his blood, and meth and a syringe in his pocket.

District Attorney Learner said the investigation showed the victim clearly acted in self defense.
