Ashe Memorial Hospital has been recognized as a Top 100 Critical Access Hospital in the United States by The Chartis Center for Rural Health.

The Ashe Post and Times reports it is the second time in three years that Ashe Memorial has been recognized.

According to the report, there are 1,343 Critical Access Hospitals in the United States, and 20 in North Carolina. Of those 20, only two others were named to the list, Angel Medical Center and Transylvania Regional Hospital.

The report indicates Ashe Memorial made the top 100 list after scoring high enough on the iVantage Health Analytics’ Hospital Strength INDEX, the industry’s most comprehensive and objective assessment of rural provider performance, measuring inpatient and outpatient share ranking, cost, charge, quality, outcomes, patient perspective and financial stability.
