A fifth person has been charged in the case of the kidnapping of a Burke County man.

The Watauga County Sheriff's Department on Wednesday arrested Valerie Ann Dollar, age 24, of 8958 NC Highway 105 South in Boone, on a fugitive from justice warrant from the state of Tennessee for conspiracy to commit especially aggravated kidnapping. Dollar was taken before a Watauga County Magistrate and was given a $250,000 bond. She is being held in the Watauga County Detention Center pending extradition to Tennessee.

According to Sheriff Len Hagaman, Dollar was previously arrested on Jan. 26 on charges of misdemeanor larceny, simple assault and parole violations.

Four other people have been arrested in the case, Robert Leroy Littleton III of Fleetwood, Leighkatherine Mina of Boone, and Michael Stacey-James May and James Combs, both of Zionville.

Carlton Lamar Edmondson was reported missing from the Valdese area of Burke County by his family on January 19.
