A fire in the Zionville Community Wednesday night destroyed a home but the occupants escaped.

Watauga Online reports the fire call came about 7:30 Wednesday night at 138 Eggers Hollow Road.

According to the report, Watauga Fire Marshal Taylor Marsh said the fire appears to have started in the wall and ceiling around the chimney and wood stove. Marsh said the home was a total loss, and damages are estimated to be around $70,000 dollars.

According to Watauga Online, the occupants made it out of the house safely and are being assisted by the American Red Cross.

Zionville Fire, Cove Creek Fire, Watauga Fire Marshal, Watauga Medics and Watauga Rescue responded to the fire.
