The boil water notice for the town of Banner Elk was lifted on Saturday.

Water consumers of the Town of Banner Elk in Avery County may have experienced periods of low pressure and outages in the distribution system due to a Water Main Break on Friday January 12, 2018.  As of 11:00 am, January 13, 2018, our system operator has reported that test results were good, with no signs of bacteriological growth and Chlorine residuals are back to normal levels.

At this time the Town of Banner Elk is declaring that voluntary conservation conditions exist due to excessive water loss.  This loss is due to broken water lines during the recent extreme cold we have experienced.  If you are aware of any water leaks within the Town, please contact Town Hall at 898-5398.  The Town would call upon all water customers to employ voluntary water conservation measures, and eliminate the waste of water.
