Watauga Commission, Boone Council to Meet PDF Print

A controversial issue will come to a head tonight as the Watauga Commission finally meets with the Boone Town Council on the matter of representation on the Boone Planning Board. The commission has been highly and openly critical of what they perceive as the town’s lack of cooperation in assuring that residents of the Extraterritorial Jurisdiction, the ETJ, have representation on the board, required by state law.  The town rejected appointments approved by commissioners several weeks back even though those appointments were passed to the commission from the town board. It may be the last opportunity for the current town board to face the commissioners as the new board will be sworn in in about a month. New members talked about better relations with the county in the campaign. That meeting is 6 this evening at the Boone Council chamber.
