Man Killed in Burke Fire Identified PDF Print

The man found killed in a fire yesterday morning has been identified by Burke County authorities. 57-year old Gary Kirksey died in the midnight Wednesday night fire, Burke Emergency Operations Center received the fire call at about midnight, the call at a residence on Clark Loop Road in the Brendletown Community. Neighbors tried to reach Kirksey, saying they broke all the windows trying to reach inside the mobile home to find the man, but the smoke and fire became too intense. The blaze was battled by Brendletown, Salem, and West End firemen, who were on the scene through the night as investigators arrived from the Burke Sheriff’s Office, SBI, and other Burke agencies.
