Jenny Koehn (CANE), community service coordinator of Appalachian State University’s ACT Office, received the statewide Professional of the Year Award from the North Carolina Campus Compact Community. The award is presented each year to a North Carolina staff member who strives towards a vision of service on his or her campus. Koehn joined the ACT Office in 1999. ACT stands for Appalachian and the Community Together and assists students in their volunteer efforts. Among other things, Koehn instituted the Martin Luther King Challenge, which involves students working with seventeen local agencies during the Martin Luther King Day holiday.
