YMCA looks for community support PDF Print

YMCA wants to start construction of its indoor pool in Avery County- and is looking for local communities to support the effort.

Executive director Kim McLaughlin has been appearing before town councils as well as the Avery County Commission, requesting communities’ help.

She says YMCA's services benefit the community as a whole- and it's important for individual towns to show their support.

The campaign has over $1 million left to earn- but McLaughlin is hopeful, due in part to the positive responses she has gotten at council meetings.

Pledges need to be in by September 1, she says, in order to begin the next phase of construction.
