Unknown thieves removed two front door windows to enter a family restaurant, according to police.  The Monte De Rey Restaurant on Winkler Mill Road  in Wilkes was broken into last week. The cash register was removed from the restaurant, where the thieves apparently had to beat it up to get to the $2,000 the restaurant reported missing. While another cash drawer was damaged, $300 was left behind. Officers are actively investigating the case. Anyone with information is encouraged to contact law enforcement as soon as possible.
