A Boone man—a convicted sex offender—was arrested and charged with peeping in on a woman and her 2 1/2 year old daughter last weekend, and now faces more charges.  The Boone Police release says that on Sunday, June 8th, the Boone Police Department was called to College Place Apartments after reports of a suspicious person.  Officers found the man at a nearby bus stop and identified him as Linville Reagan Wiles.  The complainant reported that Wiles had been caught peeping through two different windows at College Place Apartments, Wiles seen by the resident making sexual gestures at her 2½ year old daughter.  Wiles was confronted while looking through the second window and responded by offering to sell the person that confronted him a food stamp card.  Officers took Wiles into custody and charged him with one count of Misdemeanor Secret Peeping and one count of Felony Attempting to sell Food Stamp Card.  Linville Reagan Wiles, 39, listed 338 Brookhollow Road as his address, but that is leading to more trouble, as Boone Police Department discovered that Wiles was possibly not residing at the address that he had listed with the Watauga County Sheriff’s Office as his residence as a Registered Sex Offender. That information was forwarded to the Watauga County Sheriff’s Office, and the Criminal Investigation Unit looked into the information and discovered that on May 29th, Wiles listed his address with the Sheriff’s Office as the Hospitality House, but that their probe showed he was not residing at the Hospitality House and that he had not lived there since March 16th. As a result of the investigation, Linville Reagan Wiles, was charged Tuesday with one count of Failure to Report New Address as a Sex Offender and was set a $25,000 bond and set a court date of July 30th. The Secret Peeping and Felony Food Stamp Card Sale counts caused  a $15,000 secured bond and a July 7th court date. He was charged in Iowa for burglary in the 3rd degree. The original sex offense for which Wilkes was charged was from Iowa and involved his entering the residence of a 40 year old female and undressed himself in front of her. Sheriff Hagaman said that count is close to the same elements as North Carolina’s Secret Peeping offense, based on the information from Iowa.
