Explosions and fire destroyed a mobile home near Beech Mountain Saturday morning, explosions heard by Fall Creek firemen from Avery County as they were responding as backup for Beaver Dam and several Watauga fire departments.  The fire was reported at about 10:15 at 3212 Kellersville Road, a Banner Elk address, Emergency Management from Watauga saying that the fire involved a single wide mobile home where there were explosions from several gas grill tanks stored on the deck. Paul Buchanan said the fire was due to a malfunction in the furnace, and that other explosions were blamed on air compressors, which were pressurized and blew.
