The dedication of the US 421 bridge over the New River at the southeast edge of Boone, to be dedicated to the life of—and life lost—of Watauga Deputy William R. Mast Jr., is being moved.  With the snow predicted, the 10am Tuesday ceremony, originally scheduled for Brookshire Park, will be held in Perkinsville Baptist Church at 274 Jefferson Road. Mast was shot and killed in the line of duty responding to an early morning call July 25th 2012. The ceremony will include opening remarks, invocation, presentation of colors, the dedication, unveiling of the sign to be placed on the New River Bridge, and closing remarks.
