The announcement will be made in Chapel Hill tomorrow morning, but the choice will affect the High Country for some time to come—the choice of Chancellor for Appalachian State University. The UNC system Board of Governors will make that announcement in a special meeting at 10:30 a.m. tomorrow morning at the Spangler Center in Chapel Hill, the public notice posted yesterday listing the agenda item "the election of a chancellor."  It will be Appalachian’s 7th, coming after Dr. Kenneth Peacock announced last year that he would step down when a new choice was made.  The search committee selected three finalists for the position, then learned that one of those was selected as by another school, leaving UNC system President Tom Ross with a choice of two for the position. It may be that the new choice will get the first official look as Chancellor-elect late in the week, if all goes as planned.
