A North Wilkesboro man reported that he was beaten in an attempted  robbery late Tuesday night, Wilkesboro Police seeking suspects early Wednesday morning in the River Street area, suspects who reportedly flashed gang signs as they beat the man.  The 23-year old white male victim reported that he had been visiting his aunt at a River Street Apartment, and as he was leaving, he was approached by a black male who called out to him, first asking for help, then almost immediately striking the victim in the face. The man told police he tried to defend himself, but was set upon by a number of others, black males that he said flashed ‘blood gang signs’ as they beat him.  The victim said the group tried to rob him, but didn’t find where he stashed his cash, and after leaving him there, he called for his uncle, who transported him to Wilkes Regional Medical Center for treatment.  So far, no arrests have come.
