It has been two years since the terror of a missing daughter hit home for a Watauga family, then the agony of a search, ending with the discovery of the young woman’s body, buried in a rural area near Mt. Pleasant, SC, where she lived with her boyfriend—the boyfriend, as law enforcement closed in, taking his own life.  With that, friends in Boone and with Cornerstone Summit Church are organizing a memorial service to remember the life of the late Dara Watson, the event to be held at the Jones House this coming Tuesday at 6:30 p.m. The disappearance and discovery of her tragic murder became both a local and national news story, organizers saying that they’re hosting this year's memorial on behalf of the Watson family and all are invited to commemorate the life of the young woman. The former Boone resident is survived by her parents, Darrel and Ellen Watson, owners of Watsonatta Western World in Boone. The event will be on the lawn in front of the Jones House on West King Street in Boone.
