Boone Police have arrested two suspects in a November 19th attempted robbery, the same two said to have been involved in an armed robbery in Wilkes County. The Boone incident involved a white male approached a female, asking directions as she was walking on East King Street in Boone. Police say a second suspect got out of the vehicle the two had been travelling in and briefly detained the woman while attempting to rob her.  The victim was able to escape without harm and the suspects fled in their vehicle.  The following day, investigators with the Wilkes County Sheriff’s Office arrested Corey Paul Higgins for armed robbery. During the investigation, Higgins confessed to attempting to rob a female in Boone.  A second suspect, Matthew Keith Seymour, was also implicated in the robbery in Wilkes County and the attempted robbery in Boone.  On December 2nd, Boone Police arrested Corey Paul Higgins, 28, charging the Dobson man and Matthew Keith Seymour, 31, of Mount Airy for one count each of felony Second Degree Kidnapping and one count each of Assault on a Female.  They were each given a $50,000 secured bond pending a January 21st, 2014, court appearance.  The Boone Police Department is expressed appreciation for the assistance provided by the Wilkes County Sheriff’s Office and The Jonesville Police Department during this investigation.
