Saturday, deputies with the Avery County Sheriff’s Office found thirty nine year old Paul Brantley Lewis of Elk Park near the Mini Market in Elk Park, and aware of an outstanding misdemeanor warrant for Failure to Appear, they attempted to make the arrest. But officers report that Lewis resisted their arrest during the arrest process, and in the struggle they discovered that he had methamphetamine in his possession at the time.  So in addition to the Failure to Appear Lewis is charged with Possession of Methamphetamine and Resisting a Public Officer.  Lewis was set a $7000 bond at the Avery County Jail.
