Avery Traffic Stop Yields Felony Arrest

A June 6th traffic stop by the North Carolina Highway Patrol for a traffic violation in Avery County led to the discovery that driver Ricardo Raul Elizondo Jr., was driving on a revoked license, and had outstanding felony warrants from the state of Virginia. Maymead Permit Revoked By Watauga County

In a victory for opponents to a Maymead asphalt plant in Deep Gap, the permit for a new asphalt-cement operation, granted originally in 2011to the rock crusher operation, was revoked by Watauga County Thursday, according to county planner Joe Furman. Furman said in a letter to the Full Story
