BOONE, N.C. – App State offensive lineman Ryan Neuzil was signed by the Atlanta Falcons as an undrafted free agent Saturday night following the 2021 NFL Draft.

Neuzil, who earned second-team All-America honors from Sporting News and PFF College last season, is the second Mountaineer chosen by an NFL team this weekend. Cornerback Shemar Jean-Charles was drafted in the fifth round by the Green Bay Packers.

A native of Bradenton, Fla., Neuzil finished his App State career with 44 straight starts at left guard, while showing versatility as an option at all three interior line positions. He earned All-Sun Belt honors three straight years by one or more outlet and was ranked by PFF as a top-100 player (No. 85) in all of college football in 2020.

The NFLPA Collegiate Bowl invitee was a key part of an offensive line that was ranked No. 7 in the country by PFF College last year after being recognized as a top-15 line by the Joe Moore Award in both 2018 and 2019. In his four seasons of action, App State finished no worse than 22nd in the nation in rushing yards per game, highlighted by a No. 7 national ranking in 2020.

Neuzil helped App State go 52-13 with five bowl wins and four Sun Belt championships, including a 42-10 mark in four years as an active player.

Neuzil looks to become the latest in a string of App State alums who went undrafted but earned regular-season roster spots on NFL teams, including Parker Collins, Austin Exford, Kennan Gilchrist, Tae Hayes, A.J. Howard, Doug Middleton, Jalin Moore and Josh Thomas in the last five years.

App State has annually led all Sun Belt teams in NFL representation since joining the league in 2014. Last year, the Mountaineers had eight alums on NFL rosters, including playoff participants in Darrynton Evans (Titans), Daniel Kilgore (Chiefs), Kendall Lamm (Browns) and Thomas (Bills).
