Steven Russell Elledge, age 66, of Hays, peacefully passed away Tuesday, July 28, 2020 after a lengthy battle with cancer at Woltz Hospice Home in Dobson, N.C.

He was born in Wilkes County to Dean Clyde and Pearl Bailey Elledge. Steven attended Mtn. View Elementary and graduated from North Wilkes High School in 1972. He was a member of Peace Haven Baptist Church, where he felt it was his calling to let the widows know they were not forgotten. Steven was a loving and devoted husband, father, grandfather, son, and brother. In general he loved people and could bring a smile to anyone’s face. He loved his grandchildren and was very proud of the them. He enjoyed bluegrass music, singing, playing golf, sitting on the front porch, and driving his Mini Cooper. Over the years he was a truck driver, worked in vending services, and owned multiple business such as Astro Jump and the Corner Stop Convenience Store. Steven was preceded in death by his father; and sister, Ruby Adams.

Surviving are his wife, Kim Huffman Elledge; sons, Reggie Elledge of North Wilkesboro, Barry Elledge of Hays, Jonathan McClary (Jennifer) of Jacksonville, N.C.; his mother, Pearl Bailey Elledge of Hays; brothers, Ralph Elledge (Betty), Bruce Elledge and (Heather) all of North Wilkesboro, Neal Elledge of Hays; sisters, Sandra Shumate (Roy) of Hays, Barbara Massengill (Tony) of Traphill, Rita Brown (Paul) of Dehart; and grandchildren, Harrison, Hayden, Madison and Eli.

Funeral service will be held 12:00 p.m. Saturday, August 1, 2020 at Peace Haven Baptist Church with Rev. Jimmy Church, Pastor Tim Pruitt, Sr., and Dr. Charles Cain officiating. Entombment will follow in Mountlawn Memorial Park Mausoleum. The body will lie in state at Peace Haven Baptist Church from 11:00 until 12:00 on Saturday, prior to the service. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Woltz Hospice Home, 945 Zephyr Road, Dobson, NC 27017. Miller Funeral Service is in charge of the arrangements.
