Watauga Loses to Northwest Gufford

Watauga loses Thriller to Northwest Guilford in Second Round of NCSHAA Playoffs
The Watauga Pioneers 2022 season came to a close
Saturday night losing to the Northwest Guilford
Vikings in down-to-the-wire fashion 33-27. The
Pioneers finish the season 10-2 overall while the
Vikings improve to 10-2, and will play Weddington
high school next Friday night in Charlotte.
Sophomore quarterback Maddox Greene completed
five of 11 passes for 90 yards and one touchdown.
Greene also led the Pioneers in rushing yards with
170, off of 19 carries, and had one touchdown.
Senior running back Will Curtis also had 19 carries for
92 yards and two touchdowns.
Jackson Pryor had four catches for 57 yards and
Senior Carlton Horne had a 33-yd touchdown catch.
Horine, along with fellow senior Jackson Lang,
led the Pioneers with 10 tackles a piece. Senior
Isaiah Shirley had five total tackles as well as one
and a half tackles for loss. Both Maddox Greene
and Will Curtis had interceptions.
