Pioneers overtake Vikings

Watauga Runs Away from South Iredell,
Advances to Next Round of NCSHAA Playoffs
The Watauga Pioneers started off their
postseason run with a big victory, taking down
the South Iredell Vikings on Friday night 42-13.
Watauga scored 21 points in the first quarter
alone and did not look back. The Pioneers
improve to 10-1 overall while the Vikings end
their season 4-7.
Sophomore quarterback Maddox Greene completed
one of three passes for 27 yards and one touchdown.
Greene also tacked on three rushing touchdowns.
Will Curtis and Morgan Henry added one rushing
touchdown a piece and Curtis had the only receiving
touchdown for the Pioneers.
Senior offensive/defensive lineman Jonathan
Lutabingwa had three tackles for the Pioneers.
Isaiah Shirley added two more as well as a tackle
for loss. Carson Gunnell-Beck and Jackson Pryor
each had a sack and both Maddox Greene and Will
Curtis had interceptions.
Watauga returns to Jack Groce Stadium in the high
country for their second postseason game, against the
Northwest Guilford Vikings, next Friday, November
lith. Kickoff begins at 7:30pm that night right here on
96.5 FM and 1450 AM W-A-T-A!
