Thursday October 31 was a busy day, with the Downtown Boone Boo! and an ASU football game, and AppalCART set a new ridership record.

The Watauga Democrat reports AppalCART's Director Craig Hughes said the free public transportation service saw more than 18,000 passengers on Thursday. The previous record was set on August 21st with 15,500 riders.

According to the report, AppalCART ridership is up 12 percent this year, with an average of more than 13,000 riders a day.

Hughes said AppalCART could see over 2 million riders total this fiscal year, after the addition of Night Owl routes and other route changes designed to decrease wait times at AppalCART stops.
