The Middle Fork Greenway is on pace to be halfway finished by the summer of 2020.

Once it’s finished, the 6 and a half-mile trail will connect Boone to Blowing Rock.

The Watauga Democrat reports plans for this year include a new trailhead, a partnership with Tanger Shoppes on the Parkway, streambank restoration and the completion of sections one and four of the Greenway from Blowing Rock to the Foley Center and from Tweetsie to Gold Mine Branch Park.

According to the report, this year’s fundraising need is about $1.8 million, with about $8 to $10 million still needed to complete the entire project. Most of the funding is coming from the Boone Tourism Development Authority and state grants.
