Gas prices are still dropping in the High Country as demand has hit its lowest point in nearly two years.

AAA Carolinas reports that gas prices across North Carolina have been on a steady decline for 14 weeks in a row now, making this the cheapest gas has been in a year and a half.

The current statewide gas price average is $2.11, which is 4 cents down from last week and 20 cents down from last month.

According to GasBuddy.com, Boone is currently right at the state average of around $2.11 and West Jefferson is seeing prices as low as $1.97.
