North Carolina gas prices have reached the lowest level of the year and are still dropping.

The state’s current average of $2.34 is 9 cents less than it was a week ago, and 29 cents less than it was a month ago.

AAA Carolinas reports cheap crude oil is the cause for the current low gas prices.

According to GasBuddy.com, in Boone and in Newland, the current average gas price is about $2.38.

In West Jefferson, the current average gas price is about $2.19.
