Elk Park dedicated an entertainment pavilion to late Mayor John Boone, who died unexpectedly earlier this year.

The Avery Journal Times reports Boone’s son, Daniel, succeeded his father as mayor, and was inspired to create a pavilion in the town park to honor his father’s memory.

The official name of the space is the Boone Memorial Entertainment Pavilion.

According to the report, construction finished a few weeks ago and the town held a dedication ceremony with live music and a movie screening on October 6th.

The town plans to host regular movie nights at the pavilion.

Boone said he hopes the venue will continue to grow and bring the community together.
