The forecast for rain and wind from Hurricane Florence has shifted slightly in the High Country.

The rain is projected to become steady on Saturday night and be at its heaviest Sunday into Monday. The rain is now expected to taper off by Monday night into Tuesday morning.

Wind is now believed to be a bigger cause for concern than what was first thought. Gusts up to 50 miles per hour are possible at higher elevations on Sunday and Monday.

The main threat is still the potential for flooding. The storm could bring up to 12 inches of rain to some areas in a matter of a couple of days.
