The Appalachian State University main entrance sign on Hardin Street is getting a new look.

The Watauga Democrat reports that the sign will be bigger, double-sided and updated to create a safer, more welcoming space for visitors and graduates posing for photos.

According to the report, the area where the sign sits will be turned into a Founders Plaza.

The B.B. Dougherty statue between Sanford Hall, I.G. Greer Hall and East Hall, will be moved to the site.

The estimated completion of the project is late August.
