There is still no determination of the source of a gasoline leak into the Watauga River in Foscoe.

The Watauga Democrat reports that the investigation into the leak continues on the state level and a recreation advisory is still in place between Church Road and Riverside Farm Road.

According to the report, Watauga River Keeper Andy Hill says the the seep is not as constant as it was last summer, but heavy rains cause it to increase.

Hill said that one possibility about the source could be unmarked tanks buried and forgotten long ago that could still be leaking.

Health officials still recommend no swimming, wading or fishing in that section of the river, and avoid contact with water, soil and sediment in or near the river. If skin comes in contact with contaminated sediment or water, thoroughly wash the affected area with soap and water.
