A dozen speakers voiced appreciation and gratitude to the Watauga County Commissioners regarding the proposed Fiscal Year 2018-19 budget during Tuesday night’s public hearing.

Speakers included Watauga Board of Education Chair Ron Henries, Dr. Scott Sinclair of High Country Recreation, Kelsey Butler of Oasis, Dr. Mary Reichel of the Watauga County Library Board, Tina Krause of Hospitality House, and many others voiced their thanks to the Commissioners for funding in the budget.

Following the public hearing, Commissioner Billy Kennedy was grateful for the support. "Everybody seems to support what we're doing. We've split the county budget between the needs of the rec center, the public safety of the schools, and then all these different organizations that help everybody in the county, because not everyone has the same advantages in life, and with help, lives can change."

Commissioners plan to vote on the budget at their next meeting set for Tuesday June 5th at 8:30 am.
