A teenager was airlifted after one of Tuesday's accidents on Highway 194.

The Watauga Democrat reports that a 16-year-old from Boone was airlifted to Johnson City Medical Center following the first accidents. The report says the teen sustained serious neck injuries and remained hospitalized Wednesday after undergoing surgery Tuesday night. According to the report, the teen’s condition was stable.  The single vehicle accident was just south of the intersection of 194 and Brookshire Road around 5:20 Tuesday afternoon, when the a Chevy Blazer rolled over. There were two other teens in the vehicle, another 16 year old from Boone and a 17 year old from Fleetwood. Both were treated for minor cuts at the scene. The report says the driver of the Blazer was cited for failure to maintain lane control.

A second accident that occurred just minutes later near the same location sent a passenger, 36 year old Jennifer Woodard, to Watauga Medical Center as a precautionary measure, and she was released later. The Democrat reported there were two children in the vehicle, and they were also treated by Watauga Medics and transported to hospital but were later released. The collision involved a Toyota and a Ford, and the driver of the Ford, 20 year old Jacob Beach of Boone, was transported and later released from Watauga Medical Center. Beach was cited for failure to yield.
