Beech Mountain Resort Hosts 2026 Runs for Buns Fundraiser to Support Colon Cancer Coalition Runs for Buns Returns to Beech Mountain to Support the Fight Against Colorectal Cancer

Beech Mountain, NC — Beech Mountain Resort will host its annual Runs for Buns fundraiser beginning
Sunday, March 1, with a weeklong series of events benefiting the Colon Cancer Coalition. The initiative brings
the High Country community together to raise funds and awareness for colorectal cancer prevention, early
detection, and patient support.
Colorectal cancer is currently the second deadliest cancer in the United States, and rates are rising among
younger adults. The Colon Cancer Coalition is a national nonprofit organization dedicated to reducing the
impact of the disease through community based fundraising events, education initiatives, and financial support
programs for patients and families facing a diagnosis. Funds raised locally through Runs for Buns stay
connected to that mission, helping increase screening rates and provide meaningful assistance to those in
treatment.
The week begins March 1 through March 7 with the annual Virtual Auction, featuring vacation packages,
sporting event tickets, restaurant experiences, tools, grills, and more. Community members may participate
online throughout the week.
On Thursday, March 5, Come Back Shack will host a Spirit Night at both Boone locations. Guests simply
mention Runs for Buns and a portion of proceeds will support the Colon Cancer Coalition.
Friday, March 6, the Not So Gala, Gala brings an evening of live music and philanthropy to the High Country.
The SteelDrivers will headline the night alongside The Jenkins Twins. David Jackson, President of the Boone
Area Chamber of Commerce, will serve as Master of Ceremonies, and local auctioneer Jesse Miller will lead
the live auction.
During the evening, the KG Ripple Effect Award will be presented in honor of Kelly-Grier Costin, whose
legacy continues to inspire this event. This year’s recipient is Mariana Greene, Public Communication
Specialist with New River Light and Power, colon cancer survivor, and dedicated community member whose
impact reflects resilience and service.
On Saturday, March 7, the mountain hosts the Runs for Buns Ski and Snowboard Challenge from 9 a.m. to 5
p.m. Awards will recognize Most Ski Runs, Most Snowboard Runs, Top Fundraising Team, and Most Spirited
Team. There is no cost to participate as a fundraiser only, and a $10 entry fee for those skiing or snowboarding.
Discounted $10 lift tickets are available for Watauga and Avery County school students, teachers, and faculty.
The week concludes Sunday with Baby Got Brunch, a downtown Boone brunch crawl featuring Wild Craft
Eatery, Vidalia, The Social, Betty’s Biscuits, and Fizz Ed. Guests receive a brunch bite and beverage at each
location. Tickets are $85 per person, and all proceeds benefit the cause.
Runs for Buns is more than a fundraiser. It is a reminder that early screening saves lives, that community
support matters, and that together the High Country can help change the future of colorectal cancer.
