The 18th annual Emergency Fest returns May 21. Featuring area fire trucks, police cars, ambulances, rescue vehicles, forestry vehicles, helicopters, The Wilkes bomb squad, The Watauga chapter of the Red Cross, and lots more. Emergency Fest will be held 10 am to 2 pm in the Peacock lot on campus of Appalachain State University. The kids will love the scavenger hunt with prizes, and bounce houses, and get to learn about fire extinguishers, sit in a helicopter, learn the proper way to put out a campfire, and more. Popcorn and Cotton Candy will be available with donations going to The Firefighters Burned Children Fund. It's sponsored by the Watauga County Firefighters Association and is free to attend.
