Watauga Parks and Recreation has updated its COVID-19 Coronavirus response.

Watauga County Parks and Recreation (WCP&R) has been monitoring the situation of the corona virus (COVID-19) outbreak which has now been declared a pandemic. Governor Roy Cooper announced schools will remain out until May 15th and the North Carolina High School Athletic Association interscholastic athletics will remain suspended until at least May 18th.

All scheduled games, matches, practices, Pickleball, Open Volleyball are suspended until at least May 18.

Restrooms are closed and the department will not reserve any facilities until at least May 18.

Playgrounds, ball fields and shelters continue to remain open.

We ask to avoid social gatherings of more than ten (10) people. 

As this issue evolves, WCP&R will continue to monitor the COVID-19 situation and make additional announcements as deemed necessary in the best interest to the health of our communities. We will remain in contact with the AppHealthCare-Appalachian District Health Department and the North Carolina Recreation and Parks Association.
