Come to the Library and learn about the upcoming Total Solar Eclipse!

The Watauga County Public Library is having a Look Up To The Stars Program with Kevin Manning on Tuesday, July 18th at 7pm. The Western Watauga Branch Library will offer the program on Thursday, July 20th at 7pm

Kevin Manning has worked as a consultant with NASA, the Chandra X-Ray Observatory, the Harvard-Smithsonian Center for Astrophysics, and other ground-based observatories.

This is an informational program about the upcoming solar eclipse on August 21st, the first total eclipse of the Sun visible in the US in almost 40 years.  The program is geared for ages 8 and up.

As part of the program, you can get free Safe Solar Eclipse Glasses from Look Up to the Stars. The glasses meet the standard for ISO and are certified to be absolutely safe for direct solar viewing.  They filter out 100% of harmful ultra-violet and infrared light, and 99.999% of intense visible light. These premium filters create a sharper orange colored image of the Sun.
