The new Student Services Center on the Watauga Campus of Caldwell Community College and Technical Institute has been open and in use for more than a year, but the general public got its first chance to see the new facility on Monday, with a ribbon-cutting ceremony and a “virtual tour” of the 15,000-square-foot, $5.3 million building, with help from the Boone Area Chamber of Commerce.

Caldwell Community College and Technical Institute, in partnership with Blue Cross Blue Shield Foundation of North Carolina, has announced that funds are available to help cover training costs for students pursuing firefighting and emergency management careers.

Grandfather Mountain will open its gates to High Country residents, employees and their guests for only $3 each April 1-23, as the park’s “Dollar Days” promotion returns in time for spring.

The Boone Area Chamber of Commerce will host the first installment of its State of the Community series, LIVE from the Blue Ridge Energy Watauga District Office, Wednesday, March 31st from 1-2:30 pm.
