Summer has come and gone and it’s time to begin planning for the most beautiful time of the year here in the High Country. Yes, autumn has arrived, and the folks at Joe Shannon’s Mountain Home Music are excited to announce their 2015 Fall Concert Series. Rodney Sutton, JSMHM director says, “We are presenting a total of eight concerts beginning in October that feature some of the region’s favorite musicians and bands, but we will also be introducing some exciting new groups to our audiences.”

Charlotte T. Ross, also known as “the Legend Lady,” has collected or composed more than 3,400 tales of legends and laughter from Appalachia. She is an energetic performer, playwright, folklorist, story-teller, and speaker with experience in storytelling concerts, theatrical performances, conferences, school residencies, and workshops. Above all, she is a teacher.

Awards were handed out last night at the annual meeting of the Boone Area Chamber of Commerce.

BOONE, NC – August 12, 2015: Executive Director Tina Krause, along with the Hospitality House Board of Directors will be hosting its annual Hope Luncheon on Friday, August 21 in the heart of the High Country at Blue Ridge Mountain Club, where the Blue Ridge Mountains meet the Blue Ridge Parkway. Presented by the Robinson/Turner Real Estate Team, this year’s luncheon, Eternal Hope, will commence at 11:00 a.m. with a silent auction and wine social. Lunch will be served at noon with the program slated to end at 1:00 p.m.

Mary Opila, an architect and former college instructor, recently decided to make a career

change and dive into the world of furniture re-upholstery. The Midwest native knew that

training was in order and sought out the best in the country. Appropriately, she landed in

Western North Carolina, the furniture capital of the world.
