The AppalCart will not be following its usual route along Rivers Street/Poplar Grove to Feids Way until July 29th .

Last month, the High Country Charitable Foundation, Inc., a nonprofit organization with a vision to help the Avery County community by providing for neighbors and animals in need, teamed up with Engel & Volkers real estate of Banner Elk in order to create an additional revenue stream for their giving.

Any profit generated by Engel & Volkers Banner Elk will be given to High Country Charitable Foundation which will in turn give grants and funding to those in need in Avery County.

The foundation’s office is located on the top floor in the Engel & Volkers building, 610 Banner Elk Hwy in Banner Elk.

A ribbon cutting was scheduled for Wednesday afternoon.

Music at the Orchard at Altapass continues with free live traditional music starting this Thursday, July 11th through Sunday, July 14th. All are invited to enjoy performances Thursday and Friday at 1:45 p.m.; Saturday and Sunday at 1 and 3 p.m.

To improve training and career opportunities for radiography and nuclear medicine professionals, Caldwell Community College and Technical Institute will launch a new Computed Tomography program on the Caldwell Campus in Hudson.
