The first event at the King Street Market, Mayfest, happening on May 10th. Mayfest is a celebration of spring, featuring over twenty-five vendors and Spring kids' activities, including dancing around the maypole, making flower crowns, tissue paper dolls, and more. A local artist will be at the market for face painting and henna! Plus a food truck on hand if you get hungry. The 26th annual Carl and Pearl Hagel Memorial Golf Tournament will be at the Mountain Aire Golf Club in West Jefferson on Saturday, May 7th.  The tournament will benefit the NEST Alliance, a local 501(c)(3) nonprofit faith-based organization that has actively reached out through ongoing programs to help meet needs of children and families in Ashe County for the past twelve years. CALDWELL COMMUNITY COLLEGE AND TECHNICAL INSTITUTE (CCC&TI) HAS INVITED THE WATAUGA COUNTY BOARD OF COMMISSIONERS TO ATTEND A CCC&TI TRUSTEES DINNER MEETING ON WEDNESDAY, MAY 18, 2022, AT 6:00 P.M. IN THE NEW WATAUGA STUDENT SERVICES CENTER LOCATED AT THE WATAUGA CAMPUS ON HWY 105 BYPASS IN BOONE, NORTH CAROLINA. A QUORUM OF THE BOARD OF COMMISSIONERS MAY BE IN ATTENDANCE.

A special Tenebrae Service will be held on Good Friday, April 15, at 6 PM at the historic Banner Elk Presbyterian Church. The community is invited for a worship service of songs and readings entitled “Shadows” to prepare for Easter. Music will be provided by the adult choir, soloists and musicians. Original readings and poems are written by Dr. Janet Speer. Music director is Nina Allbert, joined by organist/pianist David Soyars and guest violinist Maria Kindt.
