You are invited to attend the High Country Area Agency on Aging's "Powerful Tools for Caregivers" course.

If you are the caregiver of an older adult, the "Powerful Tools for Caregivers" is a free virtual educational program designed to give you the skills you need to better take care of yourself and your loved one.

If you provide unpaid care to an older adult age 60+ and live in Alleghany, Ashe, Avery, Mitchell, Watauga, Wilkes, or Yancey Counties, this opportunity is for you.

The 6-Week Course runs 1 pm - 2:30 pm each Monday, from June 24th - August 5th. This course is offered free of charge and will be held online via Zoom.

During the 6-week course, caregivers will receive a copy of The Caregiver Helpbook, which follows the curriculum and provides additional tools to address more specific caregiver issues.

Registration is required, and space is limited.

There is also a new caregiver academy, Trualta, available for all North Carolina Residents. The courses are self-directed (meaning you can attend them any time). There are hundreds of courses available ranging from how to transfer someone out of bed to relaxation techniques for both caregiver and care recipient. This educational academy is FREE as well.
