The Roan Mountain Citizen’s Club has announced the cancellation of the 2020 Rhododendron Festival on Roan Mountain in Tennessee.

According to the organizations website, the event, usually scheduled for the third weekend of June, has been canceled.

The Club said that because of COVID-19, it doesn't feel it can offer the same safe environment to have the festival.

The decision was delayed in hopes of being able to go forward with the event, that has been held since 1947 and has continued uninterrupted for over sixty years.

Plans are already underway for next years festival. You can learn more about the Rhododendron Festival as well as Roan Mountain State Park online at RoanMountain.com.
