Music at the Orchard at Altapass continues with free live traditional music starting this Thursday, July 11th through Sunday, July 14th. All are invited to enjoy performances Thursday and Friday at 1:45 p.m.; Saturday and Sunday at 1 and 3 p.m.

On Thursday and Friday, welcome Sam McKinney, a young man from Spruce Pine with musical talent bigger than the Orchard. Return on Friday for Jack Vaughn, who makes music bounce off the mountains and audience members out of their seats.

On Saturday, True Grass starts the entertainment for the afternoon. Burnsville natives Anthony Allen, Jeff Allen, Daniel Cook, Daniel Norton, and Jacob Carroll play true-grass, new-grass, and gospel. Two hours later, Crossfire makes a repeat appearance. Bill Paul and the Willey’s—Joe, Jerel, and Justin, perform memorable bluegrass renditions.

Harlan County Grass continues Sunday afternoon. From East Tennessee, the band that takes immense pride in being traditional bluegrass musicians. Finish the day with Randy Flack, well-known storyteller and musician.

Be sure to stay around between sets for clogging and two-step demonstrations on both weekend days from 2:30 to 3:00 p.m.

On Thursday, the 11th, the Orchard will host Randy Flack in a special evening “Tribute to Waylon and Willie” beginning at 6:00 p.m. Tickets will be available at the door for $10.

The Orchard prides itself on offering the best mountain music, and all afternoon performances are free. Come, sit a spell in the newly renovated red barn, listen to the music of the region. Dancing is encouraged. Remember, no one is watching your feet.

The Orchard is located at 1025 Orchard Road near Spruce Pine at mm 328.3 on the Blue Ridge Parkway and is a not-for-profit working orchard, music, and educational venue.
