Southern Sun Farm Sanctuary, a nonprofit horse rescue in the High Country, will hold its annual “Fun”draiser event, “Beer For My Horses … and Wine,” at The Hotel Tavern in West Jefferson on Thursday, June 13th from 5 to 7:30 p.m.

The Hotel Tavern, in its third year of hosting this family friendly event, is a great supporter of the Sanctuary and its efforts to provide a safe, secure place for abandoned, abused or neglected equines.

Southern Sun Farm Sanctuary currently has equines from 11 different North Carolina counties and, in 2018, housed “refugee” horses from horse owners who were affected by Hurricane Florence and Tropical Storm Michael.

Highlights of this event include a live auction, a silent auction and many raffles items, as well as refreshments including “Horse” d’oeuvres, a complimentary Tea and Lemonade Cart, live music by “Those Three Guys” and a cash bar.

The star of the event, as always, is Chief, the rescue horse, who will offer horse kisses from his famous Horse Kissing Booth for $5.

All proceeds go to provide for the needs of the residents including feed, hay and proper veterinary and farrier care. There is no paid staff at the Sanctuary. It is an all-volunteer effort to care for the horses, ponies and one 3-legged donkey at Southern Sun Farm.

Even if you can’t attend, consider a tax deductible donation by mail to PO Box 111, Glendale Springs, NC 28629 or on the web at www.southernsunfarm.com.
