The seventh annual Hunter’s Heroes Community Dinner and Memorial Run will take place Friday, May 17th and Saturday, May 18th.

High Country Press reports the event honors the death of Watauga Deputy William Mast Jr. who died in the line of duty in 2012.

According to the report, the event is named for Mast’s son Hunter, who was born shortly after his father’s death.

The weekend will kick off with a fundraising lunch at Greenway Baptist Church in Boone on May 17th from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m., and a celebration dinner from 5 to 8 p.m. Proceeds will benefit Aiden’s Army.

The William Mast Memorial 5K will start at 8:30 a.m. on May 18th at the Watauga County Sheriff’s Office. Proceeds will benefit the Randy Collins Athletic Training Scholarship-Yosef Club.
