The Boone Area Chamber of Commerce will host its 2nd annual Watauga Leadership Challenge Alumni Dinner.
The event takes place Thursday, May 2nd at Harvest House in Boone, and is presented by Blue Cross and Blue Shield of North Carolina and Piedmont Federal Savings Bank.
Attendees can connect with a network of graduates of the Watauga Leadership Challenge program and help recognize 31 graduates of the WLC Class of 2019. Program participants in two courses have spent two days per month since January learning core principles of leadership and applying those lessons to their own community experiences.
Appalachian State Head Football Coach Eli Drinkwitz serves as keynote speaker, and will share lessons learned during a career journey that brought him to Boone as leader of a Top 25 college football program.
“We congratulate our soon-to-be program graduates and welcome all that have participated in Watauga Leadership Challenge over the years to join us for this Alumni event,” said David Jackson, President/CEO of the Boone Area Chamber of Commerce. “We are fortunate Coach (Eli) Drinkwitz has been gracious and willing to share his experiences with our group. I feel business leaders will see leadership ideals similar to their own represented in what Coach Drinkwitz and his staff are teaching their student-athletes. It’s great to gain perspective from others who have experienced success. We are looking forward to learning more about what lessons Eli has applied along his own leadership journey.”
Watauga Leadership Challenge has been administered by the Boone Area Chamber of Commerce since the late 1990s. Any graduates of Watauga Leadership Challenge or those interested in learning more about this community leadership development program are welcome to attend the dinner.
Cost for the evening includes dinner and is $20 for chamber members and $30 dollars for non-members. Registration is open at BooneChamber.com.
