Watauga County Habitat for Humanity is recruiting participants for its annual Big Kahuna fundraising campaign starting March 1st.

The friendly competition raises money to provide financial help to recipients of Habitat homes.

Participants will volunteer to fundraise for Habitat by gathering donations from personal and business contacts.

Habitat encourages business representatives to participate and plans to send request letters to community leaders in the next few weeks.

Since the campaign started in 2015, it has raised more than $175,000.

Whoever raises the most money each year is crowned the Big Kahuna.

Anyone interested in joining the campaign can contact Habitat’s Director of Development, Allison Jennings, at (828) 268-9545 ext. 107, or by email at This email address is being protected from spambots. You need JavaScript enabled to view it..
